While last year threw a lot of uncertainty and cancellations at 2020 grads, this year is shaping up to be a much better outlook on graduation celebrations thanks to vaccine distribution. Whether you’re celebrating a recent grad or throwing a party that had to be postponed last year, it’s important to stay organized so you can avoid some of the common stresses of party planning. We’re here to help! Here are a few important tips for graduation party planning:
Set a date and time as soon as possible. The U.S. is on track for vaccine distribution, so waiting until the summer would be an ideal decision to be safe. Once you’ve got that figured out, you can better plan a timeline and start calling venues and vendors to order stuff like food, decorations, etc.
Make some personal decorations. A grad party is the perfect opportunity to celebrate your graduate and all that they’ve accomplished while in school. Plus, throwing in some baby pictures is always a fun touch. Get creative when celebrating this momentous occasion.
Rent or borrow extra chairs and tables. If you’re hosting the party at your home, you’ll need lots of places for people to lounge or eat their food, which means looking into a local place to rent or asking your neighbors if they have ones you can borrow. If you’re hosting the party at a booked venue, then you need to ask them whether or not they supply their own tables and chairs. You don’t want to be surprised the day of if you forgot to check that off your list.
Order some catering. Feeding a large group of people is no small feat, which is why a lot of parents choose to order the food rather than worry about cooking it all themselves. This helps lessen the stress of the day; then, they only have to worry about setting up the food and chatting with friends and family who stop by to say congratulations.
Book an indoor/outdoor venue. The summer is typically a beautiful time to host a party, but there’s always the chance that it’s raining. Booking an indoor/outdoor venue lets you still have the opportunity to set up some outdoor games and places to sit if the weather is nice. Then, if it does start to rain, you can bring the party inside. Our venue, for example, has two big garage doors that are perfect to open up so your guests can easily go from inside to outside when the weather allows.
